As a new member of Congress, I learned really quickly that to save our democracy, we need to fight like hell and stand up to bullies in Washington, D.C.

By now, you know that Donald Trump’s decision to rig maps in Texas and elsewhere has forced Californians to respond in kind with their own redistricting plan.

But that means that my district got much more competitive. In fact, whereas in 2024, my old district voted for Kamala Harris by 32 points, my new district voted for her by less than half that. I’m taking on more new Republican voters than any other Democrat in California.
