Friend -
The WSDC is excited to announce that all five of our members who ran in special elections this year have been chosen by the voters to return to the State Senate.
All of our candidates were incumbents with records to defend, and despite heavy outside spending and relentless MAGA attacks on vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities and on the Democratic fiscal policies from last session, we stayed focused on what matters most. Together, we ran positive, forward-looking campaigns centered on standing up for working families by fully funding our schools, protecting access to healthcare, and defending the social safety net.
We’re incredibly proud of the candidates and campaigns we supported this year and deeply grateful for their leadership, resilience, and hard work.
Senator Deb Krishnadasan successfully defended her seat in the 26th against nearly two million dollars in spending from Republican special interest groups.
Senator Victoria Hunt will retain her seat in the 5th legislative district after a well-funded challenge from perennial candidate Chad Magendanz.
Senator Vandana Slatter will return to serve the 48th district in the Senate after running a community-centered campaign on the Eastside.
And Senators Tina Orwall and Emily Alvarado will return to the State Senate after running unopposed.
We’re incredibly proud of all five women, who ran inspiring, effective campaigns deeply focused on affordability, education, and the needs of their communities during this difficult time in our country.
We look forward to welcoming them back to our caucus this year. Thank you for your continued support of Senate Democrats!
