Washington, DC -Today, Congressman Van Drew sent a follow-up letter to Speaker Johnson urging House leadership to act responsibly as the expanded Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits approach expiration.
"The Affordable Care Act has failed to make healthcare affordable, but that does not mean we turn our backs on families who are stuck in the system," said Congressman Van Drew. "We cannot allow the healthcare subsidies that so many rely on to abruptly expire. We need to protect them while we build something better. While Democrats created this crisis through their reckless policies and short-term subsidies that drove costs higher and distorted the market, we have a responsibility to ensure that Americans are not punished for their failures. Extending these tax credits for one year gives us the breathing room we need to design a serious, long-term plan that reforms the system, lowers costs, and expands real choice. Doing nothing is not an option."
