Friend, it's Andrew. There's no mincing words here:
The momentum Democrats are building in New York is incredible.
Across the state, New Yorkers stood behind candidates ready to fight back against Republicans' petty political games and put working families at the top of the priority list. In a minute, I'm going to ask you to help my team and I build on this progress with a donation today, [[link removed]] but let's talk about it —
FIRST: Zohran Mamdani defeated Andrew Cuomo in the race for our next mayor! With a new generation of leadership in City Hall, I'm looking forward to working together for a city where everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
THEN: The blowout award of the night went to my good friend Kayla Santosuosso, who absolutely crushed her way to becoming the next City Council Member for Bay Ridge, Bath Beach, Coney Island, and Sea Gate. I can't wait to serve our shared southern Brooklyn residents together!
NEXT: Democrats notched wins in almost every corner of the state! We won mayors’ races in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany. We flipped control of county legislatures in places like Orange, Dutchess, and Onondaga counties. We won races like Town Supervisor in Greece, NY for the first time in 100 years. And we elected the first Black woman to serve as sheriff in New York history up in Columbia County!
NOW: While I'm continuing to celebrate in the aftermath of this Blue Wave, it's important to remember that there's still work to do.
We're in the middle of what is officially the longest government shutdown in history. Republicans have shown no sign of cracking in their crusade on healthcare. And through it all, delays for SNAP recipients means it could take weeks or even months for them to get the benefits they deserve.
We can't get comfortable in our work to continue to elect candidates who care about putting our people first.
As my team and I work to stay connected with the community, share the work I'm doing in Albany, and lay the groundwork for my next election, will you help us maximize our efforts with a donation of any amount you can spare? [[link removed]]

Andrew Gounardes is a champion for the working class and middle class families that are the backbone of New York.
He’s passed more than 100 bills into law, including legislation to protect kids from harmful social media algorithms, close a loophole in the state’s wage theft law, strengthen payment protections for freelance workers, expand the life-saving school zone speed camera program, guarantee family death benefits for public workers who died from Covid-19, and help secure and expand benefits for 9/11 responders.
He is working to help make college more affordable for New York students, dismantle the legal protections that allow perpetrators of workplace harassment and discrimination to prey on vulnerable workers, tackle the housing crisis by making it easier to build more affordable housing, and as a daily transit rider, fighting to improve the reliability, accessibility, and accountability of the MTA for all New Yorkers.
Andrew and his wife Melanie live in Bay Ridge, where they are raising their three children.
Andrew is a graduate of local parochial and public schools, Hunter College - CUNY, and the George Washington University Law School.
