Dear Team,
Trump and his administration are trying to deprive veterans of their freedoms—the same freedoms they put their lives on the line to protect.
In August, the Center for Reproductive Rights raised the alarm on a Trump admin rule that would ban abortion care and counseling through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health system. We asked you to submit public comments to urge the administration to abandon this cruel proposal.
Veteran's Day—just next week—is a reminder that we cannot be complacent. With your support, the Center is fighting on the frontlines to protect access to care for veterans and people everywhere.
This move includes the removal of a rape exception—especially chilling as one in three women veterans report experiencing sexual trauma during their service. Trump's ban would force people to carry pregnancies resulting from rape—compounding trauma with injustice.
If enacted, this would impact millions of people as one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country—prohibiting care even in cases of rape, incest, or when a veteran's health is at risk. It would apply nationwide, even in states where abortion remains legal.
Our veterans fought for us. Now, we have to fight for them.
Onward,
Center for Reproductive Rights
P.S. Your support allows the Center to stay ready to respond to dangerous proposals like this one and raise the alarm before it's too late.
