Reflecting on Trans Day of Remembrance as an organization, we felt called to create an opportunity for trans people to come together. We wanted to uplift the stories of those who passed, recognize them as beloved community members, and honor their memories with action.
So we created Give Them Their Flowers, a virtual gathering about loss and death—but also life, and how we hold those we lost closely in our activism and care.
We are deeply grateful to our movement partners for making this event possible. Give Them Their Flowers was planned with love and intention. We are also grateful to our incredible speakers! The event will feature appearances from:
🌷Janetta Johnson, CEO and a legacy holder of the Miss Major Alexander L Lee TGIJP Black trans cultural center
🌷Lizette Trujillo, activist and parent
🌷Sivan Kotler-Berkowitz, trans youth athlete and aspiring teacher
🌷Ebo Barton, poet and trans advocate
🌷Nyla Foster, Executive Director of the Trans Women of Color Collective
