The problem with one person imposing tariffs is that they're dependent on
the whims and desires of that person, not necessarily what's best for the
American people.
And that's being shown right now with the price of beef.

If you've been grocery shopping recently, you've seen that the price of
beef has risen dramatically, and it's not your imagination. Beef prices
have risen [ [link removed] ]51% since February 2020. There are a lot of reasons for
this, including a 76% tariff on beef from Brazil. And yet, the Trump
administration is proposing expanding [ [link removed] ]low-tariff beef imports from
Argentina, at the expense of American farmers and over [ [link removed] ]bipartisan
objections from Congress. It's no coincidence that tariffs on beef from
Brazil remain high but tariffs on beef from Argentina are low – when one
person decides, they [ [link removed] ]get to play favorites.
We aren't here to argue if tariffs are good economic policy or not. But
what we can say is that tariffs should not be imposed without
representation in Congress. That's just another form of taxation without
representation, and it's not what our founders envisioned.
[ [link removed] ]It's time for Congress to stand up and take back their
Constitutionally-mandated right to control tariffs.
