It’s
been 10 months since the U.S. Administration began slashing funds and
dismantling U.S. humanitarian aid programs.
The devastating effects are already visible: over 10,000 programs shut
down, USAID terminated, and critical health and development initiatives
defunded. It has left families in crisis reeling worldwide.
This is only the beginning. The consequences of these decisions will be
felt sharply in the U.S. and globally over the coming years. One study
warns the cuts will lead to a staggering 14 million deaths over the next
five years.
Today, we’re asking you to show your support for families around the world
who are suffering due to the halt of U.S. foreign aid. [ [link removed] ]Sign our pledge
to show your support for restoration U.S. aid funding and the resumption
of the lifesaving programs globally.

Another recent analysis revealed that foreign aid cuts will have a severe
impact on global health, including a 28-32% surge in tuberculosis and an
additional 12.5-17.9 million malaria cases annually. HIV outbreaks will
also increase, with 565,000 new HIV infections expected in Sub-Saharan
Africa over the next 10 years.
Our team members have seen the impacts of aid cuts firsthand. Mercy Corps
Field Manager, Enock Elkana, warns the cuts have brought Nigeria’s limited
health infrastructure to its knees. A critical stabilization center
managed by a Mercy Corps partner for children suffering from acute
malnutrition has closed.
"These are cases between life and death,” he says. “And now, with the
rising number of cases, there is nothing that partners can do, and there
is nothing we can do."
With the generous support of our donor community, Mercy Corps is doing all
we can to maintain our commitments to the communities we serve and reach
those who need us most. However, with billions in foreign aid funding
still frozen and existing cuts, delivering aid will be even more
challenging in the coming year.
[ [link removed] ]Today, we ask you to stand with us and the communities we serve by
signing our pledge now.
The past year has been incredibly challenging for our teams, the
communities we work with, and the people we serve. We are so grateful for
the outpouring of generosity and compassion from our community.
Thank you,
The Mercy Corps team
