Thank you also to many that worked hard to push our SD9 campaign over the top into the runoff with the Democrat. We knew when another Republican entered the race splitting the vote, the runoff was the goal. Without that dynamic in this election, we would have won it outright. But this is where we are. The runoff is our new battle and, once again, we can’t do it without you. I've been asked when the runoff will be. It's whenever the Governor decides to set it within a certain date range. Texas Election Code Section 2.025(d) says that a legislative vacancy special election runoff is held between 70-77 days after the canvass. The canvass is no later than the 14th day after Election Day. Governor Abbott could order it earlier, but to do so, he would have to order it as an emergency election. When I know - you'll know - and we will work hard to keep SD9 and Texas Red! We are reminded by what happened across this country Tuesday night that Republicans have to fight to keep Texas, and SD9, red. This will be a battle to defeat the Democrats as they are energized and emboldened. Tarrant County is the largest red county in the nation, larger than 15 states, and a high priority for Democrats. As Tarrant County goes, so goes Texas. As Texas goes, so goes the nation. Texas is a battleground state, Tarrant County is the target, and Senate District 9 is Ground Zero. Proverbs 21:31 says: “the horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.” I’ve summarized this throughout the campaign as “the duty is ours; the results are His.” Tuesday’s victory belongs to the hundreds of volunteers that block walked, showed up to the GOTV parties, called, and texted their friends to go vote, worked for hours at the polls, those that gave of their time and treasure. This is not a Leigh Wambsganss victory. This is a grassroots victory for Texas. We had an army. But we need to grow that army. Will you join us? Go to www.leighfortexas.com today to join our army. Texas is worth the fight!
