Across the country, 42 million Americans — including 1.5 million right here in Georgia — are going without their SNAP benefits this month because of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
That means people who rely on these benefits to feed their families are now being forced to make impossible choices, all because Congress has failed to act.
SNAP is a lifeline for millions of Americans. It supports working families, seniors, and veterans who are already struggling to make ends meet, and this shutdown is putting their food security at risk.
We must remember: Government should work for the people — not against them. Let’s send a clear message that hunger is not a partisan issue, and every American deserves the security of knowing they can put food on the table.
