Friend — The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Trump administration is considering opening huge areas off our coasts to new offshore drilling.
Trump’s plan could open areas off the Alaskan coast and the California coastline. But Florida’s coastline, where Trump lives much of the time, would be protected from drilling under the proposal.
Trump’s proposed offshore drilling plan is so extreme that even Republicans in Congress are opposed.
We have a real chance to stop new offshore drilling, but it’s going to take a massive effort. We need to continue to organize coastal communities, put pressure on lawmakers, and drive tens of thousands of public comments from Americans opposed to the drilling plan. We need your help.
The Trump administration knows their offshore drilling scheme is deeply unpopular. Both Democrats and Republicans from coastal states have come out against it. Trump even backed down from a similar move during his first term after bipartisan pushback.
In short, Trump is pushing to wreck our coasts for profit. We can’t let that happen.
