Staff Reflection: Lessons From My Time as a Teacher
“I think about my former students all the time. The ones who made me laugh, the ones who tested me daily, the ones I still worry about. I hope they’re doing well, and I hope the work I do now makes it a little easier for the next teacher, the next parent, the next neighbor to notice what I might have missed back then. It’s not about living in fear. It’s about building communities where every child feels safe enough to grow and thrive.”

PSA: Youth without Shelter are vulnerable to trafficking
Food, housing, shelter, and clothing are all basic needs that children need to live and to thrive. When a child’s basic needs are not met, they will seek other ways to get what they need to survive. Traffickers leverage this vulnerability to groom, recruit, and exploit children. We have a responsibility to keep children safe. And when they are not safe, we have a responsibility to get them to safety.

A 17-Year-Old is Still a Child
Every child deserves the chance to grow up safely, to look back one day and realize how young they were—and how loved they were through it all. That’s what your support makes possible at Love146: the space, care, and time each child needs to heal.

Supporting Survivors through the holidays
Your gift this holiday season means a lot to a child in our care. One example is that your donation may be used to get a holiday present for a child. Giving gifts to survivors in Love146’s care goes beyond a kind gesture. Many children we work with have felt out of control or have not been allowed to make choices. Letting youth choose their own gift is significant. Watch this clip to learn more about Love146 gift-giving and our thought process behind this tradition.

When passionate people come together to learn about advocating for kids, incredible things happen! Training these amazing facilitators was such a privilege. They’re already creating meaningful change in their communities and supporting youth in safer, stronger futures. Now, with new facilitation skills and Not a Number in hand, their impact will reach even further and they will help youth stay safer from exploitation through prevention education. We’re so excited for our IL partners and the difference they’re making every day and will continue to make for kids!

Supporting Kids Together
Love146 supporters do a lot! This work could not happen without people like you ensuring we have what we need to keep going. Recently, the Hamden Women’s Club hosted an incredible event for Love146, bringing people together around our shared commitment to protecting children. A few weeks earlier, longtime supporters Janet and Trey Gardner held her own gathering, raising both funds and awareness for this cause.
Each event, different in size and setting, shared the same heart: community coming together for children. If that sounds like something you’d like to do, get our guide for hosting a gathering in support of Love146!
