Dear friend,

We live in a time of great abundance. And yet, we face monumental inequality in how food, shelter, wealth, and dignity are distributed. Overcoming this deep inequality is our work, grounded in lineages of profound struggle. From Abahlali baseMjondolo to John Dominic Crossan, we stand on the shoulders of movements, people, organizers, and thinkers who fought before us. Ritual practice is one crucial way we celebrate and carry on this legacy.

In this letter:
* We Pray Freedom—Launch TONIGHT and more reviews
* Unequal Report—Oxfam’s newest report on economic inequality
* Advent Resource—Trans light in a dark world with Min. Hernandez McGavin
* Announcements–Congratulations, Speaker Series, & a new book

In solidarity and hope,

The Kairos Team

** Report: The Rise of a New American Oligarchy
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

This past year has been indelibly shaped by concentrated wealth and power. The 10 richest U.S. billionaires got $698 billion wealthier, and the arrival of the world’s first trillionaire grew more imminent. The Trump administration—largely with the support of the Republican-controlled Congress—has moved with staggering speed and scale to carry out a relentless attack on working-class families, while enriching the wealthy and well-connected.

Oxfam has compiled a profound snapshot of economic inequality in the United States along with a trend analysis of how we got here.

** Advent Unbound
------------------------------------------------------------

As the season of Advent begins, it is important to center the beautiful and messy work our faith calls us into. This week, Min. Moses Hernandez McGavin writes about the direction and light that the movement for trans liberation sheds on a dark world.

“This Advent season we must prepare ourselves for the fight ahead knowing that we are the ones who will bring about the new world that we are waiting for, and even though it might look messy, it’s what God is calling us to do.”
