Helpful reminders ahead of firearm deer season

Firearm deer hunters take to the field.

Firearm deer season is just about a week away! With the Nov. 15-23 season just around the corner, here are some tips to get you ready for an amazing season.

Things like touching base with landowners, being safety conscious and getting your gear ready will make for a safe and successful hunt.

Help feed the hungry with your deer

You can benefit Nebraskans in need with a successful harvest this fall! Hunters Helping the Hungry is a program that allows hunters to donate whole field-dressed deer to 10 processor locations, with no fee for the hunter. The venison is distributed to hungry people across the state.

Upland Slam logo
Still time to participate in Upland Slam

Spice up your fall with a challenge! There's still plenty of time to pursue and complete the Nebraska Upland Slam, which involves harvesting all four of Nebraska's primary upland game species. Aside from bragging rights, hunters will receive an official certificate, pin and chances at a grand prize.
