Climate Change isn’t waiting for Donald Trump to leave office.
It’s happening right now. Extreme weather, climate change, and natural disasters are being seen across the world, including right here in the United States. Yet, Donald Trump has not just refused to take powerful action – he’s actively making it worse.
Trump pulled us out of the Paris Climate Agreement. He’s hurting our relationships with critical partners who we must work with to tackle this global threat. He’s selling off public lands, rolling back regulations that protect our communities, and even tried to roll back California’s own state emission regulations.
This progressive legislation not only will help us tackle climate change, but it’s provisions center the needs of frontline, Black, Indigineous, and other communities of color. We all know that good investment in green jobs and renewable energy will pay dividends for workers – but we must ensure those economic benefits are spread to everyone, not just a powerful few.
This legislation does that, and more. According to experts, passing this bill would save over 60,000 American lives every year from preventable deaths due to environmental causes. The public health benefits would number in the trillions of dollars. Taking action here is not just prudent – it is a moral imperative.
Together, we’ll make sure that our children can enjoy the same planet that we did.
In solidarity,
Ro Khanna
