This term, the Supreme Court is weighing cases that could reshape our
democracy, impose extremist ideology, and hand unchecked power to the
president.
Here’s what’s on the line…
Chiles v. Salazar: The Court is considering whether to allow so-called
“gay conversion therapy” to continue. This is cruel, abusive quack science
targeting LGBTQ+ kids. A “yes” from this Court would be a green light for
harm — and a clear signal that they’ll put ideology over basic human
decency.
Bost v. Illinois State Board of Elections: A case challenging mail-in
ballot deadlines under the guise that mail-in ballots "favor" Democrats.
If the Court sides with Trump’s allies, it could weaken our elections and
give the Court a green light to interfere with your right to vote.
Louisiana v. Callais: A challenge to a second majority-Black congressional
district could gut the Voting Rights Act once and for all. This Court has
already shown its willingness to erase protections for Black voters.
Another ruling like that would cement the Court’s racist assault on
democracy.
Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump: The Court could let the president
impose tariffs without limits, expanding executive power in a way that’s
dangerous to democracy. This case is a constitutional stress test — the
Court’s conservative majority is poised to hand Trump unchecked power to
personally shape American life.
These cases are more than legal questions — they’re a referendum on
whether the Supreme Court is independent and serves the people or if it’s
merely a tool of Trump’s agenda. An extremist-packed Court means every
vote, every law, and every right is on the line.
