Dear John, Right now, LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones are under assault. More than 900 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in states across the country. Protections are being rolled back. Trans youth are being targeted. Families are being investigated. Life-saving healthcare is being ripped away. Even same-sex marriage — which has been legal across the land since the 2015 Supreme Court Obergefell decision — is in jeopardy. All of this happened in the last 10 months. And just last week, the Texas Supreme Court quietly issued an order stating that judges can “...publicly refrain from performing a wedding ceremony based upon a sincerely held religious belief.” The amendment, signed by all nine members of the all-Republican court, took effect immediately. Marriages don’t have to be performed by judges in Texas and the freedom to marry remains in place, but the Texas Supreme Court sent a chilling message to LGBTQ+ people, interracial couples, and their families: that it’s okay to pick and choose the couples that a government will officially recognize. None of this is okay. At PFLAG, we’ve been on the front lines for over 52 years. But this moment is different. The speed and scale — and the abject cruelty — of the attacks are staggering. And our ability to respond is being threatened. We’ve already lost over $1 million in corporate funding due to the backlash and pressure from the administration against diversity, equity, inclusion and access initiatives like our Straight for Equality program, which has trained thousands of allies in hundreds of corporate spaces for nearly 20 years. |

Your donation to PFLAG National isn’t just a gift — it’s a lifeline that will: - Expand our national network of chapters and support. In 2025 alone we added 40 new chapters to the PFLAG Chapter Network — many in small, conservative communities where PFLAG is the only safe space. Your support ensures every family has a place to turn, in person or virtually via our PFLAG Connects: Communities program.
- Protect trans kids and their families in states with anti-trans laws. We’re leading legal fights like PFLAG v. Trump and PFLAG v. Office of the Attorney General of Texas, speaking out in courtrooms, and working to stop cruel investigations of loving parents for simply supporting their kids.
- Train parents, families, and allies to fight back. PFLAG advocates are powerful. And with training from PFLAG National they’re sharing their stories to successfully soften hearts, change minds, and create lasting change — one conversation, one lawmaker, one life at a time.
- Ensure our community is prepared for any attacks on our rights, including the right to marry. This is not just about marriage; this is about the additional 1,138 federal rights, protections and responsibilities marriage confers to same-sex married couples, including rights that impact finances, social security, fostering and adopting children, medical benefits, and more.
This is not the time to turn away. The attacks are still coming. Our opposition is organized, well funded, and counting on our silence. But we’ll never be silent and we’ll never stop fighting. Not now. Not ever. Please rush your gift of any amount to PFLAG National today to keep this fight going — for your loved ones, your family, your community. |
