Governor Appointed Seats

November 6, 2025 — The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) is providing notice that various state boards, councils, and committees are accepting applications to fill vacant seats.

This bulletin usually lists seats that started accepting applications within the prior week. Today we're excited to announce that over 200 seats appointed by the governor just started accepting applications.

Minnesotans who apply for a seat within twenty-one days of this notice are assured full consideration by the appointing authority. Applications for seats posted today should be submitted by November 27, 2025 to fall within that twenty-one day posting period.

Below is a partial list of seats appointed by the governor now accepting applications.

• Board staff can answer questions about applying for a seat.
• Appointing authorities are organizations that review applications and decide who to appoint to vacant seats.
• You may apply for a seat after the twenty-one-day posting period but keep in mind that an appointing agency may have finished reviewing applications by that time.
• Applications remain active for one year unless withdrawn by the applicant.

2. Click on the blue hyperlink for that board.
3. On the board's website, look for the board contact's name, phone, and email link in the upper right-hand corner.

Minnesotans are encouraged to become involved with their communities by serving on one of Minnesota's 288 state boards, councils, task forces, and advisory councils.

Based on Minnesota's Open Appointments Laws, the Secretary of State acts as an administrator in publishing board vacancies, receiving applications, and recording appointments. OSS does not screen applicants, provide information on specific seats or input on who to appoint.
