Poll Results: Your Opinions Matter to Us!

Dear Supporter,

I recently asked this question of our readers: Should Congress act immediately to improve the COLA, strengthen your Social Security benefits and prevent more seniors from falling into poverty?

Overall, 99% of respondents said that Congress should act to improve the COLA and protect seniors’ benefits.

I am grateful to National Committee members and supporters like you across the country who participated in our recent poll. The results will help us send a powerful message to Washington: Seniors want Congress to pass legislation, including the “Boosting Benefits and COLAs for Seniors Act,” to improve the COLA and protect their earned benefits from being eroded by high inflation.

Right now, housing, groceries, out-of-pocket health care costs and gas are all rising faster than Social Security benefits can keep up. And too many seniors are falling behind, while many more are teetering on the brink of poverty.

Yet, while seniors are trying to stay afloat, some well-funded and highly influential outside groups are pushing for so-called “reforms” to Social Security that include capping the COLA for 1 in 4 beneficiaries.

This plan could mean that millions of older Americans could see even smaller adjustments in the years ahead, falling further behind as costs rise.

That’s why, with your feedback and support, the National Committee is pushing back, raising awareness and urging Congress to reject any cuts or caps to the COLA. Instead we’re calling on lawmakers to pass legislation that would give seniors a more fair and adequate COLA.

Please make a gift in any amount you can afford today ( [link removed] ) to support the National Committee’s urgent fight to protect and strengthen the retirement security of millions of older Americans.

Thank you again for your loyal partnership.
