I serve as the Cemetery Foreman at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth (SVC-Duluth). Originally from Biwabik, MN, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Golf and Turf Management from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. My career began at Northland Country Club in Duluth, and over the years, I advanced through several golf courses across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Eventually, I became the Head Golf Course Superintendent at Forest Hills Resort in Detroit Lakes. It was a job posting—spotted by my wife—that led me to where I am today.
Transitioning from golf course management to cemetery groundskeeping was a natural shift for me, because I enjoy working outdoors and take pride in maintaining the grounds. At SVC-Duluth, my responsibilities range from mowing and planting to snow removal and internments. I find deep meaning in caring for a space that honors Veterans and brings comfort to their families.
Although I haven't served in the military myself, I see my work as a way to give back to Veterans. I'm grateful for the consistent schedule, which allows more time with my wife and three children, and I appreciate being part of a mission-driven team.
