Friend,

With fewer than 2,000 grizzly bears alive in the lower 48 states, Congress is pushing a new bill to delist this iconic species from the Endangered Species Act. This is a brazen attack on the Great American Bear populations. Without the ESA’s critical protections, it’s likely that grizzly bears will again be trophy hunted to the brink of extinction. Please, demand your legislators protect vulnerable grizzly bears now.

We’re seeing ill-informed political decisions threaten careful science, decades of work and millions of dollars of tax-payer funded grizzly bear recovery efforts. The Great American Bear lifeline is seriously at risk—record numbers of grizzly bears died in 2024 and 2025. Now is not the time to roll back the lifesaving legal protections that have helped get them to this fragile point.

But states in the Yellowstone region have been advocating to delist grizzly bears and shift management of their populations from federal authorities to state agencies. The problem with this approach is that these states’ brutal persecution of wolves—and their opposition to the ESA—shows they can’t be trusted to protect grizzly bears in the years to come.

We can’t afford to move aside and abandon grizzly bears to trophy hunting violence and haphazard management policies that ignore science. But we need your help to push Congress in the right direction before irreversible harm is done. Please, send a message to your legislators now and urge them to preserve ESA protections for grizzly bears.
