As we head to colder months and with the holidays approaching, I’m thinking of LGBTQ+ young people and the rising levels of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among youth.
This time of the year can bring connection, celebration, and love. It can also be difficult, especially for LGBTQ+ young people navigating difficult family dynamics or seeking connection and validation.
The recent Project SPARK study from The Trevor Project paints a heartbreaking picture: more LGBTQ+ youth are reporting anxiety, depression, and, unfortunately, even thoughts of suicide than just a year ago.
LGBTQ+ youth need to know they are supported and protected. For those struggling or seeking affirmation, they can count on the crisis counselors at The Trevor Project for support.
