WILL Victory Featured on Fox News

Wisconsin Mom Scarlett Johnson took her story to a national audience on Fox & Friends after WILL helped her win a major free speech case at the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Scarlett was initially sued for defamation over run-of-the-mill social media posts made on X and Facebook that criticized her school district. WILL successfully argued that Scarlett's social media posts were not defamation. Watch Scarlett's Fox News interview below.

Big Week in Madison: WILL Testifies on Race & Education Tax Credits

WILL took the fight to Madison this week and testified in favor of two pieces of legislation.

The first, WILL Policy Director Kyle Koenen testified in support of AB 602/SB 600, bills designed to opt Wisconsin into the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which creates a permanent, privately funded K-12 scholarship program. These federal tax-credit scholarships—up to $1,700 per student—cover not just tuition but also essential services like tutoring, transportation, and therapies for special needs. Read WILL's full testimony on AB 602/SB 600 HERE.

The second hearing WILL attended had to do with ensuring racial preferences have no place under Wisconsin law. WILL Deputy Counsel Dan Lennington advocated for the Equality Amendment, which aims to ban all race-based discrimination in public employment, education, and contracting in the state. This push follows a WILL report that identified about 40 state laws and programs that discriminate based on race. Read WILL's full testimony on the Equality Amendment HERE.

WILL Urges Free Market Fix to Rising Energy Costs

In a new WILL report, titled “Energy Choice for Wisconsin: A Free-Market Case for Community Solar,” outlines how privately financed community solar projects can expand consumer choice, strengthen the electric grid, preserve farmland, and inject competition into Wisconsin’s monopoly utility system.

Wisconsin is facing the second highest energy rates in the Midwest with warnings of potential energy shortfalls in the coming years. Which is why Wisconsin needs an “all-of-the-above” strategy that relies on cost-effective and reliable energy sources to meet our growing power demands.

Community solar offers consumers access to solar power without the expense and hassle of installing panels, unlike rooftop or vast utility-scale projects. These projects involve a central solar array built in a suitable shared location, such as a field, a closed landfill, or a large rooftop.

WILL Research Director, Will Flanders, stated, “Wisconsin is heading toward an energy shortfall, and the free market offers the best path to lower energy costs. Community solar, when implemented through a true free-market approach, can strengthen reliability, reduce costs, and open a competitive and innovative energy market in Wisconsin. Greater freedom and consumer choice are essential to meet the growing demands on our electric grid, and this is a great opportunity to move in that direction.”
