Beyond the numbers, CADEM’s efforts focused on key constituencies, including the Black, Latino, AAPI, youth and LGBTQ+ communities. We built coalitions with you - key partners and leaders - to ensure that our work to connect with our communities included in-language and culturally sensitive outreach.
And the work didn’t stop there–volunteers were trained and ready to protect the vote, too. In the face of Trump’s ongoing efforts to suppress the vote through fear and chaos, we exponentially expanded the CADEM Voter Protection Program. We mobilized hundreds of volunteer attorneys, poll observers and hotline workers across the state and to key polling locations to ensure every California voter could cast their ballot freely, fairly and with confidence.
“Tonight, California sent a message loud and clear: we will always stand up for free and fair elections and make sure that the voices of California’s voters are heard,” said Rusty Hicks, Chair of the California Democratic Party. “When Republicans try to rig the rules to hold onto power, California Democrats organize, mobilize, and win.”
This win is bigger than just one ballot measure, it’s a clear rebuke to Trump and Republican efforts to trample our freedoms, our healthcare, our democracy and put a billionaires-first agenda ahead of working families. California stood up to defend democracy in all 50 states, proving once again what we already know: When we organize, we win.
Thank you for rising up, speaking out, and leading the way. Onward to 2026!
