Last night, pro-democracy candidates across the country, including New Jersey, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, and New York City were elected in resounding wins, marking a clear rejection of the White House regime’s authoritarian agenda. Across the country, voters stood up and rejected billionaires who have no interest in our freedoms. Black political power proved once again that when we organize, we win. No amount of money can surpass our will to build a future we deserve. Color Of Change celebrates these wins as a mandate for lawmakers to deliver real change in making the world a less harmful place for our communities.

Color Of Change will always push those new to power to implement the protections outlined in our Black Tech Agenda to empower app-based workers, hold Big Tech accountable, ban discriminatory AI uses, and make sure that AI systems are working for—and not against—Black communities. Digital progress should mean digital safety, not digital oppression.

These wins also confirm what we’ve always known: Black political power is the heartbeat of American democracy. Now, we will hold new leaders accountable to ensure Black communities and Black history are centered in every policy decision.

And at a time when a government shutdown has become the longest in American history and the one big ugly budget bill threatens to eliminate SNAP benefits and Medicaid funding, raise healthcare costs, and push Black federal workers further into economic insecurity, we need leaders who will stand with our communities. We will use this moment as an opportunity to push for fair wages, affordable healthcare, and quality housing.

We are excited about the new changes and opportunities coming to so many communities. But this is not the time to take our foot off the gas. We will continue to push our leaders and those in power. We are excited to work with you all in making our communities safer.
