As America woke up to the news of Democrats running the table last night, Lincoln Project Chief of Staff Ryan Wiggins was all smiles. But as a seasoned political strategist, she also took the opportunity to share what she believes Dems should do next.
First off, she says Democrats now “have all the cards” and should not compromise with Republicans on Trump’s shutdown. MAGA lost big last night. Act like it.

At the same time, it’s important for Dems not to learn the wrong lessons from Tuesday. They won on affordability, not ideology. Running progressive candidates in every district isn’t a formula for victory in the midterms. Trump promised to fix the economy in his 2024 campaign, but inflation has only gotten worse. Democrats from across the political spectrum pounced on that during this election cycle — and won. Keep it up.
