Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Government Shutdown

As of today, the federal government is still “shut down”. House Republicans sent over a clean continuing resolution to the Senate over a month ago, and Senate Democrats have failed to pass it over a dozen times. Democrats have been holding the federal government hostage, demanding over $400 billion in continued subsidies to health insurance companies. Meanwhile, essential employees are missing paychecks. It is wrong.

I will continue to stand with Republicans and hard-working Americans who are struggling to afford health care and health insurance – not with big insurance companies or corporate welfare.

As long as I am in Washington, I will fight for the values of my constituents and put the taxpayer first.

New Op-Ed: Mamdani’s Rise Signals the Islamic Revolution Remaking the United States

Americans across the country usually have little reason to pay close attention to the politics of New York City — despite its size and status as the world’s financial capital — because it rarely affects them. However, as New Yorkers went to the ballot box yesterday to vote in the most significant mayoral race in decades, the eyes of the nation are now fixated on the rise of a Marxist-Islamist in a city the nation once rallied around in the wake of the attacks of 9/11.

I recently wrote about these radical changing circumstances in New York City and what it means for us Texans. Read the full op-ed here.

Local Voices Must be Heard in Texas Floods Investigations

I recently requested the Texas Senate Select Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Flooding include local voices and community input as the committee investigates the July 2025 Central Texas floods.

Local voices – including elected officials, camp operators, small business owners and first responders – are essential to incorporate into any findings or recommendations. Their insight will be critical to crafting policy that improves preparedness without stifling the local economy or undermining a century-old way of life in the Hill Country.

You can read the full letter here or below.

San Antonio Airport (SAT) TSA Meeting

On Monday, I met with leadership at the San Antonio Airport for the briefing on operations during the shutdown.

Thanks to the outstanding work from airport staff, TSA, and all support teams, flights and operations at SAT are running smoothly with few, if any, issues.

My office will remain in close communication with airport leadership and assist wherever possible.

Texas Anti-Gang Unit Visit

I had a great visit with the Texas Anti-Gang Unit (TAG Program) in San Antonio.

These dedicated federal, state, and local law enforcement officers are working together to make our communities safer by taking violent criminals off the streets and prosecuting dangerous criminals that have come across our border.

Sincerely,
