Last night, voters across the country headed to the polls to deliver a clear message: leaders must put people first and work to lower energy costs, create high-paying jobs, and protect communities.

When the polls closed, in key races, voters OVERWHELMINGLY chose candidates whose campaigns centered on lowering household costs, including sky-high utility rates.

In Virginia, our state affiliate VALCV-PAC helped usher in a HUGE victory last night, as Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger became the first woman to be elected as the state’s governor. Spanberger focused relentlessly on affordability policies that address the cost of data centers, and committed to building out clean energy projects long stalled by both the current governor, Glenn Youngkin, and the Trump administration.

VALCV-PAC ran the largest canvassing program in the state, knocking on over 200,000 doors. They also sent more than 660,000 pieces of mail, made over 42,000 calls and texts, and launched a series of digital ads that garnered more than 6.3 million views.

In New Jersey, where residents face some of the nation’s largest utility rate hikes, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, a former Navy pilot, won the governor’s race by running on an affordability agenda, which includes a clean energy plan that aims to reduce costs for New Jerseyans.

In Georgia, voters chose to elect two new clean energy allies, Peter Hubbard and Dr. Alicia Jackson, to the Georgia Public Service Commission, which oversees the state's largest utility company and sets utility bill rates. Hubbard and Jackson vowed to lower energy bills and invest in affordable clean energy. These are the first Democratic statewide wins in Georgia in 20 YEARS.

These victories are a clear demonstration that our movement’s multimillion-dollar efforts to be responsive to voters' concerns around their energy bills is a winning strategy.
Thanks to your continued support of our movement, our state affiliates were able to help elect leaders who will champion policies that lower energy costs, create good-paying clean energy jobs, and reduce pollution.

Thanks for everything you do.
