The results of yesterday’s elections delivered a powerful message.

We saw voters across the country send a resounding message of resistance to Trump's agenda. Here in Maine, we scored a huge defeat to efforts to weaken voting rights - with a huge no vote on Question 1. And Mainers also passed a common sense red flag law to help protect families from gun violence with Question 2.

And in Virginia and New Jersey we scored two huge wins, electing two new women Governors! Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill showed us the blueprint to win – by standing up to Trump, fighting for the affordability issues that matter to families, and showing voters a better path forward.

We have a long road ahead to ensure 2026 brings more of these victories, and every win last night was the result of thousands of volunteers, donors, miles traveled and more – but if there’s anything that we can learn from this week, it’s that when Democrats show up and fight, we can win.

Why? Because the people of Maine are ready to tackle the big problems we’re facing, like the need for more affordable housing, rising costs for families, and tackling the growing healthcare crisis. Because we’re rejecting extremism and choosing leaders who fight for progress, fairness, and opportunity.

Because despite the challenges we face, we’re ready to fight back and build a stronger, fairer future for all Mainers.

Democratic governors play a crucial role in protecting our communities, supporting families, and fighting back against Donald Trump’s extreme agenda. And just like I’ve always done, I’ll be on the frontlines standing up for you.

The results are in and last night proved that when women lead, we get the job done.
