John,
Last night was one for the history books. Across the country, Democrats outperformed every expectation and sent a powerful message of hope and resistance; a referendum on the second Trump administration’s harmful and regressive policies.
And at Sister District, every single one of our candidates won. From Virginia to Mississippi to Minnesota, our community helped elect game-changing Democrats and defend our democracy where it matters most: in the states.
While national headlines celebrate historic wins in New York, New Jersey, and California, the victories in our races prove something even bigger: grassroots organizing works. State power matters. And when we show up together, we can win everywhere.
Our 2025 victories include:
- Mississippi: We flipped 3 deep-red seats and shattered a 13-year Republican supermajority in the Senate—a historic victory that restores power to communities long silenced by racially gerrymandered maps and voter suppression.
- Minnesota: We kept the Senate blue and powered scientist Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger to victory, ensuring continued progress on climate action, voting rights, and reproductive freedom.
- Virginia: All 15 of our candidates won, the first female governor was elected, and our alumna became the first Muslim woman ever elected to a statewide office, as lieutenant governor — delivering a Democratic trifecta in the Commonwealth!
At a time when Donald Trump and the MAGA movement are doing everything they can to make us feel powerless and afraid, these victories prove that when we organize in state and local races, we can deliver wins for our communities.
Now, we’re channeling this momentum into what comes next: 2026 midterms. If you’re proud of what we’ve built together, please chip in $20.26 to help us kickstart our 2026 work. Every donation helps turn this year’s slate of victories into the foundation for the next.

From all of us at Sister District, thank you for everything you’ve done to make this moment possible. We couldn’t be prouder – or more excited – to keep building state power with you.
In solidarity,
The Sister District Team
