Last night began the next chapter to show that fairness and democracy can still win in America. Proposition 50 has passed!

Thank you to the California Democratic Party, San Diego County Democratic Party and Democratic Party of Orange County for helping our volunteers contact tens of thousands of voters in our communities.

Thank you to Governor Newsom, our California Democratic Congressional Delegation, and our partners across the state for staying united and focused.

I wish we hadn’t needed Prop 50. But when one state draws maps designed to silence millions of voters, the consequences affect representation in every state. We stood up because the health of our democracy depended on it.

Now we look ahead. One year from now, we will choose the next House of Representatives. We have momentum, and we have work to do -- new maps means that thousands of new voters will be folded into California’s 49th District.
