Hello Friend,
Yesterday, voters across the nation made their voices heard, and the results are starting to show the impact of civic engagement. Here’s a snapshot of some key races and initiatives:
This cycle, our community showed up in powerful ways. Together, we made over 100,000 phone calls here in Massachusetts and nationwide , knocked north of 5,000 doors , and dedicated hundreds of hours to connecting with voters, sharing information, and inspiring civic participation. Every conversation, every doorstep, and every hour volunteered made a real difference.
Massachusetts Local Races
Across Massachusetts, voters decided on mayors, city councils, school boards, and other local offices that shape day-to-day community life.

These races are critical because they influence local policies, school budgets, public services and more.
New Jersey Governor Race
Voters in New Jersey chose to continue strong, pragmatic leadership by electing Mikie Sherrill as governor. Sherrill’s victory represents a commitment to expanding access to affordable healthcare, strengthening public education, and investing in an economy that works for working families. Her win underscores that voters want leaders who put people over politics and focus on delivering real results for their communities.
Virginia Governor Race
In Virginia, Abigail Spanberger ’s win marks a decisive moment for the Commonwealth. Spanberger’s leadership promises to center public safety, education, and opportunity—reflecting a forward-looking vision that unites rather than divides. Her victory sends a clear message: voters are ready to move past partisan gridlock and toward common-sense solutions that strengthen Virginia’s economy and protect fundamental rights.
California Proposition 50
Californians voted Yes on Proposition 50 , reaffirming their commitment to fair representation and transparent government. The measure reforms congressional redistricting rules to ensure that district boundaries are drawn based on fairness—not partisan interests. This is a win for democracy and a model for states across the country working to uphold equitable elections and voter trust.
Maine Question 1
Maine voters decisively rejected Question 1 , a proposal that would have restricted absentee voting and limited access to the ballot box. By voting No, Mainers reaffirmed their long tradition of civic participation and defended the right to vote freely and fairly. This outcome demonstrates a strong statewide commitment to protecting democracy and expanding, not constraining, voter access.
These results remind us that every vote counts and that participation in democracy drives real change. While we celebrate these wins, the work doesn’t stop here. Staying informed, engaged, and involved ensures that momentum continues into the 2026 midterm elections.
These victories are only possible because people choose to serve, whether as candidates, campaign staff, organizers, or volunteers, and because supporters like you put in the time and heart to make it happen. From the Organizing/GOTV phone banks to weekend canvasses and community outreach, our collective effort powered progress up and down the ballot.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also look ahead. The road to 2026 begins now. By continuing to engage voters, strengthen our grassroots networks, and invest in the next generation of leaders, we can keep building on this momentum and ensure Democratic victories for years to come.
Thank you for showing up, speaking out, and helping turn yesterday’s votes into meaningful progress. Together, we’re proving that democracy works best when everyone participates.
With gratitude,
Massachusetts Democratic Party
