Yesterday, voters across California chose democracy over complacency. And I couldn’t be more proud of our state.

With the passage of Proposition 50, we’ve sent an unmistakable message to Donald Trump, his MAGA movement, and everyone else working around the clock to rig the 2026 midterm elections before they even begin: Not on our watch.

Let me be very clear: Prop 50 shouldn’t have ever been necessary. But when Republicans in Texas, Missouri, Ohio, and more redrew their maps five years early to explicitly take power away from Democrats across the country? We couldn’t play by the rulebook while Republicans ripped it to shreds.

We had to fight back. We had to restore balance to Congress. And we did.

This is a major win for our democracy, a major win for California, and a MASSIVE boost to our odds of flipping control of Congress next year. I owe each and every member of this team who made their voice heard at the ballot box a huge thank you.

We’re in the middle of an unprecedented, terrifying chapter in American history — but because of you, we just met this moment with an unprecedented response.
