Dear Friend
Zohran Mamdani’s historic victory means we’ve got a shot at a rent freeze, fast and free buses and low-cost, universal child care. NYCC was proud to be among Mamdani’s (few) Day 1 endorsers. Just as we worked hard to elect him, we will fight hard for these objectives, which are the core promises of Mamdani’s Mayoralty.
After Mayor Mamdani and the newly-elected Council take office in January, it is also imperative they address the affordability and climate crisis together.
Join us for a training and launch on Wednesday, December 10th of #GasFreeNYC, a campaign to win lower utility bills, good jobs, and lower pollution for New York.
About 70% of the city’s climate-heating pollution comes from buildings’ energy use - oil and gas used to heat, cool and power our buildings.
Almost every building in New York has an aging, dirty, over-expensive oil or gas boiler in its basement. As these boilers get old, they must be replaced with clean energy and energy efficiency - or the planet will cook and our city will continue to suffer an epidemic of asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
Replacing old, dirty boilers with clean, efficient heat pumps is an opportunity to lower utility bills and create good, union jobs in HVAC work. In 2019, we won Local Law 97, which covers large buildings. Now we need new programs to cover the city's nearly 1 million small buildings.

We love to write this e-mail!!! We are thrilled Zohran Mamdani won. But winning an election - no matter how big - isn't enough. We have to win results for our communities, too.
Let's do it, together.
Thank you
