John,
What a night for our movement. If you were looking for a sign that the political tides are turning, this was it (in flashing neon letters, no less!)
In our flagship program in Virginia, we reached millions of voters leading up to Election Day and won every single one of our priority races—a first in Vote Pro-Choice history.
In addition to winning the state-wide Virginia contests, we helped flip 13 GOP-held seats in the House of Delegates, seven of which were in districts that Trump won. We achieved a pro-choice majority of 64-36, the largest win in the chamber since 1987.
And it’s not just about the numbers: it’s about the individual stories of these champions. Highlights include:
- Abigail Spanberger becoming the first woman Governor in Virginia’s history
- Ghazala Hashmi, who we were thrilled to support in her primary election, becoming the first Muslim woman elected to state-wide office in the country
- Jessica Anderson, Kimberly Pope Adams, and Lily Franklin all winning rematches in some of the most hotly contested state contests in the country
And beyond Virginia, we saw wins across the country:
California passed critical redistricting, Democrats broke the Republican supermajority in the Mississippi State Senate, Georgia Democrats won state-wide non-federal contests for the first time in nearly two decades, Mikie Sherrill was elected Governor of New Jersey by a double-digit margin, New York City saw the highest turn-out in a city race since 1969, Colorado voted to fund universal school meals, and Democrats won key Pennsylvania judicial races and municipal seats in bellwether districts.
We’ll be diving into the lessons of this moment next Wednesday, and we hope that you’ll join us in a virtual conversation about the path ahead.
The power we build today doesn’t just help us defend our freedoms now; it creates the blueprint for a better tomorrow, building up scaffolding in the places that will help us win in 2026, 2028, and beyond.
It’s why we haven’t slowed down, and why we do this work all year, every year. If you’re able, please consider building on this week’s momentum with a donation towards our 2026 programming.
Our work is powered by grassroots support, with an average contribution of $20.87.
That’s why last night’s victory belongs to all of us who donated, voted, rallied, protested, and vowed never to stop fighting for a better future. Together, we made history this week, and won races that will tangibly change our communities for the better.
Today, we hope you’ll join us in a collective exhale and celebratory moment. We’re deeply grateful for your support.
With gratitude and hope,
Sara Tabatabaie
