[link removed] [[link removed]] I wanted you to hear it from me first: We just won the first round in this gerrymandering fight. But round two is just around the corner.
After weeks of secret partisan maneuvering and shady backroom deals, Kansas Republicans failed to gather the necessary signatures to force a special legislative session on redistricting.
Our grassroots campaign is having an impact.
However, it’s likely they’ll make another attempt to gerrymander Kansas during the regular legislative session that begins in January. The Kansas House Speaker even made an explicit promise: Republicans will continue the “conversation about redistricting.”
Look, this is a big victory for the people of Kansas, and our democracy as a whole. But it could turn into a temporary victory if we don’t spend every second between now and January keeping up the hard work.
Their plan to cheat the system isn’t over — so we can’t slow down either. Please, can you chip in just a few dollars to help us keep up the pressure campaign all the way through the new year? We need every ounce of grassroots support we can get if we want to spook Kansas Republicans off once again. [[link removed]]

For weeks, Republican legislators were circulating a petition to call for a special session. The sole purpose of that special session? Gerrymandering Kansas’ maps by splitting up Johnson County — something Republicans promised to never do during their last gerrymandering push in 2021.
After that gerrymander, which was designed to make Kansas’ 3rd as Republican-friendly as possible, Republicans thought they had my number. The former Senate Majority Leader even said at the time: “I guarantee you we can draw four Republican congressional maps.”
But they were wrong. In the next election, I won by even more.
Kansas Republicans have made it clear they’ll do anything to hold onto power — even silencing their own constituents at the ballot box. But I’ve been just as clear: Voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around.
Stopping this special session is a moment for celebration — but that’s all it is: A moment. We can’t lose our focus now, not when we’re so close to ending this gerrymandering push for good. Please, chip in whatever you can to keep our campaign prepared for everything that comes our way. [[link removed]]
