Hi there,

Election results are in, and yesterday the pro-democracy movement scored some incredible wins thanks to the help of Vote Forward volunteers and supporters like you!

➡️ In California, Proposition 50, also known as the Election Rigging Response Act, has passed.

This measure serves as a response to extreme gerrymandering in states like Texas, North Carolina, and Missouri, and will temporarily redraw California’s own congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

This win will have an important impact on the integrity of our democracy not only in California, but nationwide, ensuring voters everywhere can elect a majority in the House of Representatives that’s representative of the people rather than predetermined by partisan interests.

This was a big campaign that came together very quickly after the ballot initiative was announced just a few months ago—and this community stepped up. Thanks to your support, the Vote Forward community wrote 225,900 letters to likely Democratic voters. In addition, you helped us test a new tactic by adopting flyers in 118 different cities across California. Once the results of these campaigns come in, we’ll be sure to report out.

➡️ And in Pennsylvania, all three state supreme court justices with a record of protecting and expanding voting rights were retained.

While a state supreme court race may not grab the headlines, the results here are a big deal. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has quietly become one of the most influential courts in the country in recent years, with a track record of protecting the democratic process during some of the most hotly contested national elections.

In 2018, it struck down the state’s congressional map due to unconstitutional gerrymandering. In 2020, it extended the mail-in ballot deadline in one of the most hotly contested swing states of the presidential election, ensuring as many votes as possible were counted amidst a global pandemic. And in 2022, it stepped in to stop counties from counting invalid ballots in a critically important Senate race.

The result of yesterday’s election ensures this track record will continue, and Vote Forward volunteers helped make it happen, preparing 415,000 letters encouraging people to cast their ballots. We also tested a new tactic in this race, with letters that invited the recipient to call or text a phone number where they could talk to a trained Vote Forward volunteer. We’ll be sure to keep you informed as the results of this test come in!

These wins deserve to be celebrated, but we’re only just getting started. In 2026, we’re going to continue testing new, innovative voter contact methods that will shape the future of voter turnout in elections for years to come.

So make sure to stay tuned for more updates about our plans in the coming weeks and months, in addition to the results of the tests we ran this year. Whether the results are good, bad, or somewhere in between, we’re committed to always transparently sharing our test results with this community.

In the meantime, thank you again for everything you did to help make this year’s elections a success for the pro-democracy movement.
