NARAL Pro-Choice America recently changed its name to Reproductive Freedom for All. Our name may be new, but our mission of protecting and expanding reproductive freedom remains the same.
John—In case you didn't stay up late last night to watch election coverage, let us give you the too long, didn't read version: Abortion won big this year!
From California to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Virginia and beyond, voters showed up for reproductive freedom.
These wins include:
🎉 Virginia voters elected a reproductive freedom trifecta, securing majorities in the House of Delegates and electing Abigail Spanberger as governor, Ghazala Hashmi as lieutenant governor, and Jay Jones as attorney general. These wins are critical to protecting abortion access in the only Southern state without an abortion ban.
🎉 Proposition 50 passed in California, the initiative to temporarily redraw California's congressional districts to balance Republican attacks on our democracy.
🎉 Reproductive freedom champion Mikie Sherrill is the next Governor of New Jersey.
🎉 Pennsylvania retained three state Supreme Court justices that will ensure there are fair-minded courts striking down anti-abortion laws.
Access to abortion care remains one of the most mobilizing and decisive issues for voters across the political spectrum. Voters continue to reject candidates who try to appear moderate on abortion.
We'll talk about what these results mean for the 2026 midterms at our next member meeting. Join us on Wednesday, November 12 for a virtual call!

We mobilized voters in all of these states. Our 2025 electoral program built on record-breaking grassroots engagement this year:
- Over 800 events and trainings were held nationwide this year, including voter education on redistricting, the intersection of reproductive freedom and democracy, and ballot initiatives.
- 192,000 calls and 149,000 texts made to voters in key 2025 electoral states.
- 1,000+ volunteers trained through innovative virtual and in-person programs, preparing them to lead conversations in their own communities.
Now we're gearing up for the 2026 midterms where we're determined to win back power and slow down the attacks by the Trump administration.
Join us on Wednesday, November 12 to talk next steps on how you can help protect abortion at the state and federal level.
