John, last night was the first test of Donald Trump's second term and Democrats won big!
Southern Election Results * Virginia: Democrat Abigail Spanberger won a decisive victory by 15 points (that's over 400,000 votes!) It was also a great night for Democrat Ghazala Hashmi, who became the Lietenant Governor by winning over 55% of the vote.

* Virginia: Democrats in Virginia's House of Delegates won a total of 64 seats out of 100, increasing their majority by 13 seats!
Non-Southern (but still important!) Election Results * New York: Democratic-Socialist Zohran Mamdani will become New York's youngest mayor in over 100 years and the first Muslim-American to hold the post. He defeated Andrew Cuomo by almost 200,000 votes!

* New Jersey: Democrat Mikie Sherrill will become New Jersey's first female governor by defeating her MAGA opponent by over 12 points!


Last night, the American people made a choice: they chose democracy over authoritarianism, common sense over extremism, and the Democratic vision for our future.

It was an historic night for our country and a reminder that if people come together they can defeat special interests and the forces of dark money. Republicans spent hundreds of millions to buy seats, meddled with gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics, and the president even tried to influence electons by threatening to withhold federal funds from cities and states who elect Democrats.

But the people prevailed.
