Last night was a very good night—for Democrats and for everyone who believes in the power of people coming together to make progress.
In Virginia, Abigail Spanberger flipped the governor’s seat blue—making history as the first woman ever to lead the commonwealth. In New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill won the governor’s race, maintaining Democratic control of the seat a year after the state showed signs of shifting toward President Donald Trump. And out in California, voters said yes to Proposition 50 and stood up against the partisan redistricting effort in Texas and in states across the country.
The big takeaway? We can do it .
When we organize, when we show up, and when we work together, we win. That’s what Democrats did across the country last night. And they did it in different ways, with different campaigns, demonstrating the depth and breadth of the Democratic coalition—and also demonstrating that Democrats care about people and are showing up for them everywhere. And that’s exactly how we’ll keep building our coalition, in Texas and across the country.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible volunteers and supporters who made calls, knocked on doors, donated, and lifted each other up. And, even though I wasn’t on the ballot this time, #TeamLizzie was all over this election. Our team volunteered on these winning campaigns and more. We fought back against Texas redistricting and showed the rest of the country the urgency of meeting the moment.
We have a lot to be proud of. And a lot of work to do. Your commitment and energy power is what will carry us to victory in 2026 and beyond—not just this campaign, but this effort to take back the House and to move our country forward to a better future for all Americans.
Now let’s keep that momentum going. We’ve seen what’s possible—and together, we can do it again.
