Now, it’s up to leaders across the country to take up the mantle

Hi—
When clean and affordable energy is on the ballot, we win.
That’s the first thing you should know about yesterday’s gubernatorial election results. By electing Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia, voters sent a clear, resounding message that they want leaders who are going to fight hard for them. They want leaders who are going to lower costs, challenge the corruption that’s driving skyrocketing bills, and expand clean energy in their states. The climate crisis is expensive, but clean energy is cheap.
It’s a platform that offers a better path forward than Trump’s corrupt crusade against clean energy, and leaders across the country should take note of it.
Will you join us in spreading the word about Sherrill and Spanberger’s victories on social media so we can demonstrate that clean energy is cheap energy? ([link removed])

Ratepayers in both New Jersey and Virginia have faced brutal price hikes—and there was no shying away from that in this year’s elections. Tying their opponents’ support for failing anti-clean-energy policies in Washington to rising costs at home, Sherrill and Spanberger led with commonsense plans to lower costs through clean energy. Plans that leaders across the country should take a page from right now.
Sherrill promised bold action to drive down utility costs with a massive build-out of cleaner, cheaper energy, and vowed to take on utilities and PJM—New Jersey’s grid operator—to get it done. Meanwhile, Spanberger made energy a top issue in her affordability platform, including expanding local clean energy generation and calling on data centers to bring their own clean generation.
The takeaway?
Clean energy isn’t an abstract issue. It’s not only our best tool to continue tackling the climate crisis—it’s also our best tool to drive down costs. These leaders ran and won on clean energy as an affordability solution.
Governors-elect Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger owned this winning issue—now it’s up to them to deliver, and for leaders across the country to take up the mantle.
I hope you’ll share this post on social media today to help spread this message far and wide. ([link removed])
