Trump Uses Tariff Revenue To Protect Poor Mothers and Kids Hurt by Democrats’ Shutdown

Trump used the revenue from his much-criticized tariffs to prevent Democrats from exploiting poor mothers' suffering.

Using the revenue of some of the tariffs that liberal critics have fought vigorously, President Donald Trump has helped vulnerable American mothers and, in the process, neutralized some of Democrats' supposed "leverage" in what is nearly the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) recently admitted that while the Democrat-induced government shutdown has been painful for families across the country, it is somehow necessary because "it is one of the few leverage times [Democrats] have."

In their quest for leverage, Democrats have jeopardized critical food assistance and health care for the nearly seven million poor American pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and at-risk children who rely on the special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children program known as WIC.

Texas Supreme Court Lets Judges Opt Out of Performing Same-Sex Marriages Based on Religious Beliefs

Texas judges will no longer face penalties if they opt out of performing same-sex marriages if the practice violates their religious beliefs, the state’s highest court ruled.

The Texas Supreme Court added a comment to the state’s judicial conduct code declaring that judges who “publicly refrain from performing a wedding ceremony based upon a sincerely held religious belief” are not in violation of the state’s rules on judicial impartiality.

The eight justices signed off on the order amending Canon 4 of the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct last week. The court directed the order to be filed with the Secretary of State and sent to the governor, lieutenant governor, and all legislative members. In addition, the order is to be mailed to each registered member of the State Bar of Texas.

The court’s decision, while not naming same-sex marriages directly, amends the same judicial rule that the State Commission on Judicial Conduct accused Waco Justice of the Peace Dianne Hensley of violating in 2019.

The commission sanctioned Hensley after she declined to officiate weddings for same-sex couples because of her Christian beliefs.

White House Working To Designate Antifa as Foreign Terrorist Organization

Trump reacted favorably to the idea during a roundtable meeting last month with reporters who spoke about Antifa violence.

The Trump administration is moving forward with plans to designate far-left extremist group Antifa as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO), according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

“That process is most definitely taking place. I don’t have any announcements for you on that today, but I can certainly assure you the administration is working on it,” Leavitt said during a Nov. 4 press briefing.

Leavitt’s comment was in response to a question by a journalist who attended a roundtable discussion last month concerning Antifa violence and its overseas ties.
