Dear John,

The Boundary Waters – America’s most visited and cherished Wilderness area – is facing a new threat from Congress.

The Border Lands Conservation Act would open all federal lands within 100 miles of the U.S. border to roads, buildings, and motorized access. This encompasses the entire Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Superior National Forest (for reference, Duluth is 100 miles from the Canadian border).

Could you imagine the droning sound of border patrol helicopters or motorized equipment buzzing by while you’re trying to enjoy camp after a long day of paddling?

This is an outrageous overreach. This isn't about border security. It’s part of a broader effort to dismantle public land protections across the country. But together, we can stop it.

If passed, Senator Mike Lee’s Border Lands Conservation Act would:
* Gut key Wilderness Act protections that have kept these areas roadless and pristine for decades
* Allowing new roads, buildings, and motorized vehicle use in protected Wilderness areas
* Station DHS agents in Wilderness areas as they deem necessary
* Sideline the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management
* Open the door to destructive development in one of our nation’s most pristine landscapes.

Your members of Congress needs to hear from you. Tell Congress to oppose the Border Lands Conservation Act today.

America’s public lands belong to all of us, and it’s up to us to protect them.

Your voice makes a real difference. Earlier this year, you helped get a dangerous mining provision removed from budget legislation. When people like you speak up, we’ve proven we can stop bad bills before they become law.

Thank you for speaking loudly for this quiet place.

For the Wilderness,
