This is a developing story…friend, we are monitoring fast-moving updates at the EPA. EPA Administrator Wheeler has just urged Trump to veto the bill that would fund the agency into next year.

Here's the situation: On Friday, the House Appropriations Committee approved a bill to fund the EPA and Interior departments. These bills are considered "must-pass" — without an agreement, the agencies shut down. Usually they pass without much fanfare.

The House bill that was just approved in committee would be a slap in the face to Trump. It restores funding to areas he had been pushing to gut. It also blocks efforts to roll back pollution standards.

But this veto threat is practically unheard of. What happens next could come quickly. The bill will need to be negotiated with the Senate, and every indication is that they will attempt to jam through a long list of damaging amendments to appease Trump. We can't let that happen — Congress needs to pass a bill to fund the government, and for Trump, this could be the last chance to push through some of his most damaging policies before the election is in full swing.
