Hi John, It’s clear the world is finally beginning to wake up to the ongoing crisis in Sudan. Since we launched our petition late last week, leaders on both sides of the aisle in Congress have spoken out against the atrocities taking place. The US Holocaust Memorial Museum also issued a statement on Monday, continuing to sound the alarm on the unfolding genocide. But the truth is, it’s still not enough. How did Sudan get here? The country’s brutal civil war erupted in April 2023 and plunged Sudan into chaos. Even before the fighting began, more than 15 million people were already in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Now, over two years later, the situation has deteriorated. Civilians are enduring relentless attacks and grave human rights abuses. The health care system has collapsed. Famine is tightening its grip. We’re calling on the US to speak up and take urgent action to help end the violence and protect civilians. We’ll be hand-delivering this petition soon and we need to make sure Washington is represented. More than 3,000 ONE supporters have already helped shine a light on the crisis. Add your name to the list. Thank you. Kelli Meyer, ONE
