John -- Hours after we declared victory in the NY-01 primary, the Suffolk County GOP launched this attack campaign:

We expected the GOP to do anything they could to mislead voters and spin me as someone I’m not to protect their darling, Lee Zeldin. But voters in NY-01 are smart enough to know that using science and evidence is not radical - it’s exactly what we need to do.

Here’s what I think is radical:

- Zeldin continues to take the president’s lead to reject science and the warnings of experts. He appeared at Trump’s rally in Tulsa in the midst of a pandemic without wearing a mask. More importantly, he has failed to take any action against climate change and instead has welcomed fossil fuel donors to support his campaign, despite the fact that we live on an island.
- Zeldin has repeatedly voted against the Affordable Care Act, endangering health care coverage for millions of Americans and over 70,000 people here in NY-01.
- Zeldin cosponsored a concealed carry reciprocity bill to allow gun license holders from any state to carry their guns in NY -- effectively abolishing most of our gun safety protections.

We know these hyper partisan attacks will continue -- in fact, Zeldin has already raised $3.5 million to push his propaganda.

To stop Zelin, we must get ahead of the GOP, but we spent our resources to win the primary. Now we need to build our warchest to launch the general election campaign against Zeldin.

We must build our emergency attack-ad response fund immediately. The data show that when we communicate our message, we are in a strong position to win because my background in science resonates strongly with voters. But we can’t win unless we out-communicate Zeldin and his corporate PAC allies. That’s why we need to raise $35,000 today to counter these GOP attacks.
