"~~Nearly 160 Kansans Join Governor’s Largest Town Hall Event Yet,
Donate 356 Pounds of Food to Harvesters~~"
*KANSAS CITY* – On Monday, Governor Laura Kelly hosted the fourth stop on her statewide listening tour, ‘The People’s Budget’, in Kansas City, Kansas. Joined by Adam Proffitt, Director of the Budget/Secretary of the Kansas Department of Administration, and nearly 160 Kansans, Governor Kelly’s town hall style event focused on the need for continued fiscal stability.
“Last night in Kansas City, I spoke with a passionate group of Kansans about the most pressing issues impacting their community,” *Governor Laura Kelly said.* “Whether it was public education or infrastructure, I appreciated the Kansans who joined our largest stop yet and shared their thoughts as I craft a fiscally responsible budget that prioritizes what matters most to them.”
Throughout the evening, Kansans overwhelmingly encouraged fully funding public schools and fully funding special education. Additionally, Kansans spoke in support of funding for infrastructure projects, the Kansas Arts Commission, Jobs for America’s Graduates, and services that prevent children from entering foster care. Other topics discussed included property taxes, economic development, and affordable housing.
At each of 'The People’s Budget' tour events, Governor Kelly is simultaneously hosting food drives in partnership with the Kansas Food Bank and Harvesters – The Community Food Network. In Kansas City, Kansans donated 356 pounds of non-perishable food items that were collected by Harvesters. Kansans planning to donate food at future events can find additional information about in-demand items here [ [link removed] ].
