Today is Election Day, friend! After the presidential election years, people usually tap out, but odd-year elections are just as, if not more important, especially for working-class families across our state! This weekend, funding for SNAP benefits ran out because of the government shutdown, leaving 600,000 Coloradans – half of them children – facing food insecurity. Families across our state are wondering how they’ll put food on the table. For many of these children, school meals may be their only chance to eat each day. That’s why this election is so important. On your ballot this year are two critical statewide measures — Propositions MM and LL — that will determine whether Colorado can keep providing free, healthy school meals for every public school student, regardless of income.  
Every ballot will look a little different depending on where you live — but you can expect to see local races for city or school board seats, and possibly ballot measures, too. Don’t hesitate to reach out to a local elected or community leader whom you trust to ask about their recommendations! So if you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today by 7 PM! Every ballot matters, especially when powerful interests would rather you stay home. Find all voting information here!
