If we're going to take back the U.S. Senate from the GOP this November, it's not just about flipping seats from red to blue: we need to protect seats like mine and Gary Peters'.

My friend Gary represents the people of Michigan in the Senate, and he's got a tough re-election race ahead of him in a state that Donald Trump unexpectedly won in 2016 with a razor thin margin of 0.23 percent.

Now, Trump and McConnell are trying to buy this seat in their effort to hold control of the Senate: Gary's Republican opponent has outraised him the past four financial quarters, and just outraised him last quarter by over $1 million.

Gary has been a fighter for working families and the middle class, affordable health care, public schools, and the Great Lakes. His number one priority is helping every Michigander thrive.

We can't flip the Senate if we lose Democratic leaders like Gary. That's why I'm asking: will you split a contribution of $10 or more to mine and Gary's campaigns to help protect our seats this November?

Gary might be outpaced by McConnell's dark money donor network, but with enough grassroots supporters chipping in here and there, we can give him the resources to defend this seat and win.
