John, we have a Montana Plan update for you:
Last week, we told you the Montana Attorney General deemed our ballot initiative language “legally insufficient.” It’s a setback, but it won’t be for long — we just submitted our appeal to the Supreme Court of Montana to overturn that decision!
We know we have a good case. The grounds that the Attorney General rejected our paperwork on are not legitimate because they strayed into political policy and attempted to predict future litigation. Political inconvenience for those who benefit from the status quo does not make our initiative illegitimate.
This roadblock is an attempt to stifle our momentum. We just got polling back, and 74% of those surveyed (across Democrats, Republicans, and independents!) support our ballot initiative as we wrote it.
It’s simple — if we get on the ballot, we’re going to win.
We’re confident about how these legal proceedings will go, but that doesn’t make them inexpensive. Continued support from people like you is how we stand a fighting chance, so please, consider a donation to our legal fund today:
Together, we can defeat Citizens United. We hope you'll join our people-powered fight today!
